Description:

Provide reading support to students who are experiencing reading difficulties at local elementary schools for approximately 12 hours per week during the regular school day (9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). Tutors work under the direction and supervision of the school's reading specialist.

Required Qualifications:

  • Federal Work-Study: You must qualify and be eligible for this specific financial aid program.
  • GPA: You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Background Check: You must successfully pass a Utah State Board of Education FBI background check.
  • Core Skills: You need strong reading skills and the ability to work effectively with students who struggle with reading

This position requires a commitment to working at least 11 hours per week throughout the semester. Because students and reading specialists rely on consistent support, only applicants who can fulfill this commitment should apply. Students enrolled in the Elementary Block or participating in student teaching/internships are not eligible, as those commitments do not allow them to meet the required work schedule.
